
This picture captures the Amari Boulevard Hotel amidst then-typical Bangkok smog (2001). Although the smog is bad, it's not quite as bad as the gray tinge of the photo would seem to imply. Part of the reason for the gray is that it was late in the day. Also, the picture was taken through the window of another building.
Note that we were in this same part of town in November of 2007, and the air seemed cleaner. (Although traffic cops were still wearing masks a lot of the time, in a perhaps vain effort to mitigate their risk of lung disease.)
The air has nothing to do with the quality of the hotel, though. The Amari Boulevard Hotel is a nice place.
