This is the living room of Mrs. Ritmontree, Jariya's foster mother. Mrs. Ritmontree is in the back on the left, beside me (the pudgy white guy in the 60s shirt).

Along with her are her daughter-in-law, a neighbor, Amy, me, and Jariya herself.

This is the bedroom of Mrs. Ritmontree, Jariya's foster mother, as it existed in November 2001. Jariya called her Yai (the Thai word for maternal grandmother).

Our daughter, Jariya, who is adopted, was raised for over a year by a Thai foster mother, whom she called Yai ('grandmother'). The two of them are shown here, reuniting in Bangkok for the first time in five years.
